New Delhi: A case was registered against Bihar Cricket Association president Rakesh Kumar Tiwari after a woman accused him of attempting to sexually assault her at a hotel in Delhi. The complainant, as per PTI, works as a director in a company that deals in sports management, event management, and advertisement.

The victim said in her statement that in March 2021, Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) organised a T20 league tournament. In this tournament, the work related to advertisement, campaign, and branding was assigned to the complainant’s company. Last year, her company submitted the bill to the BCA in April after the completion of work.

Rakesh Kumar Tiwari, president of the Bihar Cricket Association, told the complainant to come to a five-star hotel in Central Delhi to discuss payment.

After this, the complainant went to a hotel in Delhi to meet Rakesh, on July 12, 2021, where he allegedly molested her inside a hotel room, PTI report stated.

The woman somehow managed to escape from the room by pushing the room. She called her brother and narrated the incident, following which he called the accused who allegedly apologised for his act and said it will never happen in future, it stated.

He also assured the complainant that he will clear the bills of her company, report in PTI said.

Later, he called the woman and his brother at the hotel to discuss the payment. On July 23, they both went to the hotel room. He asked the complainant’s brother to take a bag from the room to the hotel reception. When her brother went out of the room, he allegedly touched her inappropriately, the FIR said.

The woman resisted his act and told her brother about the incident, it said, adding that the case has been registered at Parliament Street police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code on Monday. Police are investigating the case.
