Himachal pradesh elections: The dates for the assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh have been announced. After the voting on November 12 and counting of votes on December 8, a new government is to be formed in the hill state. BJP does not want to take any risk on Himachal. However, despite the crushing defeat in the by-election, the spirits of the BJP are very high. BJP party sources claim that his road to victory in the state is not difficult. The reason is central leadership. Yes, the BJP high command is trying to ease the problem of Himachal Pradesh on the face of PM Modi. This is the reason why CM Jai Ram Thakur is also supporting PM Modi in a small state with 68 assembly seats.
The BJP had adopted electoral mode in Himachal Pradesh long before the Election Commission declared the assembly elections. In August, Saudan Singh was appointed as election in-charge of the state and Devinder Rana as co-incharge. During this, both made several visits to the state and both are likely to stay there till the elections are over.
Jairam trusting PM Modi
The BJP is relying more on its national team to address anti-incumbency sentiments against Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and party MLAs. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present in the state hours before the Election Commission announced the elections, highlighting the achievements of the ‘double engine government’ and flagging off the fourth Vande Bharat Express train from Una to Chandigarh. This is Modi’s second visit to Himachal Pradesh in less than a month.
Amit Shah in Sirmaur
On Saturday, Home Minister Amit Shah will address a public meeting in Sirmaur district. Through this rally, Shah is going to focus on the Hati community, who have been demanding for inclusion in the list of Scheduled Tribe communities for a long time. The Union Cabinet had approved a constitutional amendment bill last month.
JP Nadda’s home state
On the other hand, BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda also comes from Himachal Pradesh. In the last one year, he has also given maximum time in the state. Since March, Nadda has made seven trips to Himachal Pradesh and spent more than 15 days in the state.
Anurag Thakur in Modi’s team
More than a year ago, Anurag Thakur, a very popular face of Himachal Pradesh and who held a key position at the Center, was also promoted to the cabinet rank by PM Modi. He is currently handling the Sports and Information and Broadcasting ministries in the Union Cabinet. The BJP is hopeful that these efforts will give it enough to lead the state and retain power.
what does the record say
If we look at the history, there has been a tendency to vote for those in power in the hill state. The party also got power in Uttarakhand for the second time in a row. If we look at the last assembly elections, in 2017 BJP had won 44 out of 68 seats while Congress got 21 seats. Two Congress MLAs later joined the BJP. However, in the by-elections held for three assembly and one Lok Sabha seat last year, the Congress had won all the seats. Party leaders feel that the assembly elections will be different from the bypolls. The party can also deny tickets to at least a dozen sitting MLAs.
