India Legends vs South Africa Legends: India Legends defeated South Africa Legends by 61 runs in the opening match of the Road Safety World Series on Saturday, thanks to the superb bowling of Rahul Sharma (3 wickets) after an explosive fifty from Stuart Binny (82 not out) . Retired players from all over the world represent their countries in this tournament organized by the Government of India to raise awareness about road safety. Batting first, India Legends scored 217 runs in 20 overs after winning the toss in the match held at Green Park, Kanpur, in response to which South Africa Legends could score only 156 runs.

South Africa Legends never looked ahead in the match chasing a massive target of 218 runs. After a 43-run partnership for the first wicket, Rahul Sharma returned the pavilion to opener Morne van Wyk (26) lbw, while Pragyan Ojha dismissed Andrew Putick (23). After this, apart from captain Jonty Rhodes, none of the Proteas batsmen could touch the 20-run mark. Rhodes remained unbeaten on 38 off 27 balls, studded with five fours and a six, while his team scored 156 for nine in 20 overs. For India, Rahul Sharma took three wickets for 17 runs in four overs, while Munaf Patel and Pragyan Ojha took two wickets each. Apart from this, Irfan Pathan and Yuvraj Singh also took one wicket each.

Electing to bat after winning the toss, India Legends got off to a good start. There was a 46-run partnership for the first wicket between Sachin Tendulkar and Naman Ojha. After this Sachin Tendulkar got out after scoring 16 runs in 15 balls. In the very next over, Naman also returned to the pavilion after scoring 21 runs. Suresh Raina played a powerful innings of 33 runs in 22 balls. Yuvraj scored 6 runs in 8 balls. Yusuf Pathan contributed 25 runs in 12 balls. India scored more than 80 runs in the last five overs.

10:45 PM: Munaf Patel has given the sixth blow to Africa by dismissing Botha. Botha was dismissed for 8 runs.

10:15 PM: South Africa Legends have got a second blow. by Pragyan Ojha Andrew Putick was caught out at the hands of Sachin Tendulkar. Putik was dismissed for 23 runs in 24 balls.

9:54 PM: India Legends has given the first blow to Africa. Morne van Wyk returned to the pavilion after scoring 26 off 24 balls. Rahul Sharma gave India the first success.

9:54 PM: South Africa have scored 28 runs in 4 overs without losing a wicket. Vick is playing on 17 and Putik is scoring 9 runs.

8:35 PM: India Legends has suffered a major setback. Team’s star batsman Suresh Raina was dismissed after scoring 33 runs in 22 balls. In his innings, he hit 4 fours and a six.
